Failure Analysis of Bearing Steel Balls
Bearing steel balls’ manufacturing quality is closely related to bearing life, since the bearing steel balls will break down. In order to know reasons for the failure of bearing steel balls, a company use methods of metallographic, hardness testing, macroscopic observation and microscopic observation to analyze. The final result shows that the failure mode of the bearing steel balls is fatigue. Specifically,its interior exists a layer of full decarburization organization of the maximum depth of 0.063mm, destroying the continuity of the material, seriously affecting the performance of the bearing steel balls, which is the main reason for the peeling and shelling of the bearing steel balls during the operation.
